Keppel Shipyard has the expertise
to undertake the jumboisation
and lengthening of vessels,
body-swapping and life extensions
projects. Some of these works
done by Keppel Shipyard include
the:
- Jumboisation and extension
of container vessels, with
new mid-body sections
- Jumboisation of a Trailing
Suction Hopper Dredger
- Widening of a tender drilling
barge
- Upgrading of vessels into
a sophisticated research vessel,
including the installation
of a complete range of sophisticated
oil exploration equipment
Some of our completed projects
include:
Seaway,
a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger
(TSHD) that measured 132 metres
when she arrived at Keppel Shipyard.
After conversion, she now measures
164 metres with upgraded dredging
and power management systems.
A deck crane was also installed
onboard the Seaway.

Bulk carrier Castillo
de Simancas was the result
of a body swapping between a
bulker, Castillo
de Lopera, and tanker,
Castillo
de Lorca.

Completed in March 2009, the Queen of the Netherlands, a trailing suction hopper dredger vessel, was lengthened by 54 metres with the addition of a mid-ship section weighing 4,750 tonnes. The hopper capacity was increased from 23,347m3 to 35,500m3, making her one of the largest dredgers in the world.
