Keppel Shipyard is a world leader in the fast-track conversions of FPSO and FSOs, having successfully completed the most number of such projects in the world.

A pioneer in FPSO/FSO conversions, the yard was entrusted with the region's first conversion of a tanker to FPSO facility in 1981.

Over the years, Keppel Shipyard has delivered several FPSO/FSO conversions to long-time customers including Yetagun FSO, Espadarte FPSO, FPSO Falcon, FPSO Brasil & FPSO Serpentina to Single Buoy Moorings Inc (SBM), Espoir Iviorien, FPSO Petroleo Nautipa and Abo FPSO to Prosafe Production; and Dampier Spirit and Karratha Spirit to Teekay Shipping.

In 2003, Keppel Shipyard's competitive and excellent track record secured the yard five FPSO/FSO conversions. Three were delivered in the same year - MT Laksmiati, Kadriah I and Caspian Sea to PAS Maritime, KIC Oil and Gas and Tanker Pacific respectively. FPSO Marlim Sul and FSO Pattani Spirit were delivered in March 2004 to SBM and in April 2004 to Teekay Shipping.
